    Frequently Asked Questions

Medicare EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) referrals are accepted for Physiotherapy appointments if you have a valid referral from your GP. These referrals qualify you for a Medicare rebate. Some out-of-pocket costs may apply, as Medicare covers part of the consultation fee, but not always the full amount. It’s best to check with the clinic for details about current fees and rebates before your appointment.

You don’t need a referral to book an appointment with a Physiotherapist. If you have private health insurance with Extras cover, you can usually claim a rebate for any of our services (Physiotherapy, Remedial Massage, Exercise Physiology or Dietetic services, including group sessions).

You can book an appointment online any time through the booking system on our website (link here: https://bookings.nookal.com/bookings/location/NUNCA). Just follow the prompts to choose your preferred service, location, and practitioner, then pick a time that works for you. If you have any questions or need help, you can also call us directly.

The GLA:D program is available for people with Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis. This program is designed to help manage symptoms through education and supervised exercise. It focuses on education and supervised exercise to support strength, movement and day-to-day function. Sessions are led by qualified Physiotherapists and are suitable for people looking to improve their everyday mobility and comfort with Osteoarthritis. You can book an assessment with one of our GLAD trained Physiotherapists to see if the GLA:D program is right for you.

Home visit Physiotherapy appointments are available for people who find it hard to get to the clinic. A Physiotherapist can visit your home to provide assessment, rehabilitation and exercise-based management where appropriate. This service covers a range of needs, whether you are recovering after surgery, managing an ongoing condition, or have limited mobility. To organise a home visit, you can contact the clinic to discuss your situation and work out the best way forward. Home visits are available for Physiotherapy and Remedial Massage services.

At your first appointment, the therapist will start with a detailed conversation about your health, symptoms, and any injuries or issues you’re experiencing. They’ll ask about how the problem started, what makes it better or worse, and your general day-to-day activities. After this, you’ll go through a physical assessment, which might include checking your movement, strength, flexibility, balance, and posture. The therapist may also test specific joints or muscles depending on what’s going on. Based on all this, they’ll explain what they think is happening and talk you through your options for treatment. Your Physiotherapist will discuss appropriate management options and work with you to develop an individualised treatment plan that may include hands-on techniques, exercises, and advice on what you can do at home. Questions are welcome at any time, and the goal is to help you understand your condition and be involved in your recovery

You can take part in group Hydrotherapy sessions or one-on-one Hydrotherapy appointments. Group sessions are a good way to exercise in water with others, while individual sessions offer a more personalised approach and closer supervision. Both options are available, so you can choose what suits your needs best, in consultation with your Physiotherapist.

Dry Needling can be included as part of Physiotherapy treatments when it’s suitable for your needs. This technique involves using thin, sterile needles (like acupuncture needles) to target specific muscles as part of an individualised Physiotherapy management plan, where clinically appropriate. Your Physiotherapist will discuss whether Dry Needling is suitable for your condition and explain how it may fit within your overall treatment plan.

Sports and dance screening assessments are available as part of our Physiotherapy services to help identify potential injury risks. These assessments look at how you move, your strength, and other factors that might make you more likely to get injured. The assessment aims to identify movement patterns and physical factors that may contribute to injury risk.

Clinical Reformer sessions are offered, which incorporate Pilates-inspired exercises focusing on core stability, movement control and strength under the guidance of a Physiotherapist. Exercise plans are tailored to suit individual needs and fitness levels, and all sessions are led by qualified Physiotherapists to ensure exercises are appropriate for your individual needs and rehabilitation goals.

Remedial Massage is available as part of our services and may be included in a rehabilitation plan. Remedial Massage may be incorporated into a rehabilitation plan where clinically appropriate. Depending on your individual needs, it may be used alongside other Physiotherapy techniques as part of your overall management plan. If you’re not sure whether Remedial Massage is appropriate for your condition, bring it up during your assessment for personalised advice.

Injury prevention education and advice on posture and movement are a key part of Sports Physiotherapy sessions. Each session usually includes an assessment to find out what might be increasing your risk of injury. From there, you’ll get personalised advice on how to improve your posture, movement, and activity technique. The aim is to identify factors that may contribute to injury risk and provide advice on movement, training and activity where appropriate. Sessions often include tips you can use during daily life, exercise, or sports, so you can move better and reduce the chance of getting hurt.

You can access Sports Triage services if you’re unsure about the seriousness of your injury. There’s a special sports triage phone number—1300 IM HURT—where you can talk to a member of the team for advice and support on next steps. This service is open to all, not just current patients, and helps guide you on whether you need urgent care, further assessment, or advice on appropriate next steps, including self-management where suitable. Booking for a full assessment at one of our clinics is simple if it turns out follow-up assessment and treatment is recommended.

You can book an appointment for a new sports injury and don’t need a referral if you’re coming privately, with TAC, or Worksafe; a referral is only needed for Medicare EPC care. Our Physiotherapists assess and manage a wide range of sports injuries like sprains, strains, muscle tears, joint injuries, overuse issues, fractures and post-surgical rehab. Common conditions seen include ankle sprains, knee injuries (like ligament issues), shoulder strains, back pain, tendon problems, and more. Each session starts with a thorough assessment, so your treatment plan will be tailored to your specific injury and what your goals are.

NDIS Allied Health services are available if you are self-managed or plan-managed, including Physiotherapy and other support for people who have funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Individual treatment plans are created to fit each person’s goals and needs. Services can be provided at the clinic or, if needed, as home visits. To get started, people with NDIS funding can contact the team to discuss their plan and arrange appointments that work best for them.

Our Sports Physiotherapy services near Clayton begin with a comprehensive assessment to understand your injury, movement and rehabilitation goals. Treatment plans are tailored to the individual and may include hands-on Physiotherapy, exercise-based rehabilitation, education and movement advice where appropriate. We also work with patients to support a gradual return to sport or physical activity and provide guidance on strategies that may help reduce the risk of future injuries.

Absolutely! You can easily contact our clinic through an online form available on our website for enquiries about Sports Physiotherapy or any of our services. This form provides a convenient way to ask questions and get the support you need.

Our clinics offer both injury prevention strategies and tailored rehabilitation programs for sports-related injuries. Our Physiotherapists start with a thorough assessment to understand your needs, then create a personalised plan focused on recovery and helping you avoid injuries in the future. Services include sports screening, individualised exercise programs, and education on proper movement and posture. These approaches are designed to support athletes at all levels to support movement, physical function and ongoing participation in sport and everyday activities. Due to our locations, we are also able to include water or gym-based exercise as part of your Physiotherapy plan, and are able to refer you for a gym/swim membership to facilitate self-management aspects of your care.

Private health insurance rebates are available for Physiotherapy sessions if you have Extras cover with your private health fund. You usually just need to bring your health fund card to your appointment (physical or digital card), so any eligible rebate is processed on the spot. This helps reduce your out-of-pocket cost for each session. It's a good idea to check with your health fund to confirm what your policy covers before your visit.

Clinical Reformer sessions incorporate Pilates-inspired exercises focusing on core stability, movement control and strength under the guidance of a Physiotherapist. These classes are designed to target core stability, movement quality and strength using reformer and other equipment, to help improve muscle control, posture and movement patterns. All of our programs are individually tailored to ensure your specific needs are addressed, following an initial assessment session. All classes focus on safe technique and gradual progressions, whether you’re recovering from an injury or just want to enhance core stability for daily life or sport.
